What is ISO 19650? The BIM Information Management Standard, Explained

ISO 19650 is the international standard series for managing information over the whole life cycle of a built asset using building information modelling (BIM). It defines how project information should be specified, produced, exchanged, and stored, so that everyone on a project works from a managed, shared record rather than each company's private one.

Where it came from

The series internationalized the UK's BIM standards, principally BS 1192 and PAS 1192-2, which underpinned the UK government's BIM mandate for public projects.
