Work with us

We're a team of applied researchers, engineers, and technologists building the next generation of tools for architects and engineers – for the people who design and build the physical world. Our customers use Cogram to run projects ranging from housing, hospitals, churches, to bridges, airports, skyscrapers, datacenters, factories, and so much more.

Why join us?

We’re going through the fastest technological inflection in history. At Cogram, we’re seeing the impact of that on engineering and architecture, industries that we think are especially interesting because they blend art and science and because they’re all around us: so much of what is built is created with the tools of architects and engineers. Historically, when new tools became available, that changed what could be built. We think that will be true for AI, too. So it’s an incredibly exciting time to work in software and AI, and especially interesting to work at the interface of software and the physical world.

You’re joining a well-run, fast-growing company, with paying customers at scale and product-market fit. Our customers include many of the leading architecture and engineering firms in the world. We’re well-funded, having partnered with some of the world’s top venture investors, including Initialized, Y Combinator, and Elad Gil. We’ve also grown to the point where we don’t rely on outside funding.

We’ve built a very strong, kind team, distributed across the US (New York), the UK (London), and Germany (Berlin). And you’re joining a no-nonsense work environment. Everyone at Cogram either builds product, or helps our customers work with Cogram. Everything we work on, we do in small teams of two or three people, so you have lots of ownership. We get together for offsites 3–4 times a year, and often meet between offsites in smaller teams or for conferences and events with our customers. We fully embrace how powerful AI is for software engineering and our work, and there are, in practice, no caps on agent usage at Cogram.

If you're looking for fast decision-making and the freedom to run with difficult problems at the boundary between AI and the physical world, we think Cogram is the best place to be.

Who we’re looking for

We're looking for individuals that combine a hunger to win – to make the best products, to be the best partner to our customers – with kindness and real curiosity. We tend to be obsessive about what we do and are looking for people like that. Good software is wrought from a deep understanding of how our customers work, imagination for what is possible with technology, and hard work. Because we place so much emphasis on meeting with customers, you have to be a very good communicator, in writing and in meetings. That means you're good at listening and at explaining concepts clearly. You also have to be comfortable with a fair amount of schlep. If you want a 9-to-5 job, Cogram isn’t for you, but we don't engage in performative overwork either.

What’s it like to work with us as an engineer?

As an engineer, you spend a lot of time talking to customers, then quickly taking ideas through prototype, design, and to production. We’re looking for full-stack product builders, with an obsession for craftsmanship and a sense for aesthetics. You have to be comfortable meeting with users, deeply understanding how they work, and distilling product ideas from messy requirements.

We work fast and usually against deadlines, but don’t trade speed for quality. We structure our product work in 4-week cycles, to establish a sense of urgency and a natural razor for unnecessary complexity. That approach is inspired by 37Signals, and has worked well for us for several years now.

Sales at Cogram is full-cycle

If you're working in sales, you run a full-cycle process, from first call, to demos, through pilots, to deployment, and customer success. So we’re looking for versatile generalists with a high sense of ownership and autonomy. There are no handoffs to an SDR, solutions engineer, or customer success manager at every stage: you own the relationship end to end.

You build long-term relationships with customers, meet them regularly, and closely work with our engineering teams to improve Cogram based on customer feedback. We’d like you to bring an entrepreneurial spirit to sales, not just run a process. And it’s important that you’re deeply curious about our customers – how they work, what they struggle with, and how we can make tools to help.
